Plage du Courant is an attractive beach located in Mimizan Plage, in the Landes region of France. It is uniquely situated at the mouth between the ocean and the coastal river Le Courant de Mimizan, dividing the town into two areas. Known for its scenic beauty, the beach is a popular spot for surfing and fishing. One of the notable natural features of Plage du Courant is its calm waters. This makes the beach an ideal spot for a quiet swim without the disturbance of waves, making it particularly suitable for small children and the elderly. The beach is also known for its yellowish water, a characteristic that has raised questions about its origin but does not deter visitors, largely due to the reassurance provided by the presence of a lifeguard station. The beach is equipped with a number of amenities for the convenience of its visitors. It is supervised during the period from July 1st to August 31st, from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM daily, ensuring the safety of beachgoers. The beach also has a ramp for people with reduced mobility, making it accessible to all. However, visitors should note that there is no shower facility available at the beach. In terms of parking, there is a small parking area available on the street before the bridge over the river for those arriving from the north of Mimizan. This makes the beach easily accessible by car for visitors. Despite its popularity, especially during the summer months, Plage du Courant maintains a serene atmosphere. However, due to its limited space, it can get crowded at times. Despite this, and a wall that obstructs the view of the current, the beach remains a pleasant spot for relaxation and enjoyment.
