Spiaggia di Felciaio is a picturesque beach nestled along the southern coastline of the Island of Elba, Italy, situated between the beaches of Lido di Capoliveri and Norsi. This beach is known for its natural beauty and clear waters, with its sandy shores and seabed contributing to its allure. The beach is bifurcated into two sections by a narrow passage, each offering a distinct experience to its visitors.
The first section of the beach, accessible by a path, is often adorned with seaweed. This part of the beach houses a bar, serving as the only amenity available on-site. The second section of the beach is renowned for its half-natural, half-artificial cliff, forming a stunning natural pool. This pool, suitable for both adults and children, is surrounded by rocks teeming with marine life, making it an ideal spot for snorkeling. However, visitors are advised against diving from the cliff due to the shallow seabed.
Further exploration along the rocks reveals small pebble coves, reachable with appropriate footwear. The beach is particularly recommended on days when northern winds, such as Tramontana, Grecale, and Maestrale, are blowing. Despite its popularity, especially among families with small children, Spiaggia di Felciaio tends not to be overly crowded, even during the peak months of August and September.
To access the beach, visitors must undertake a short walk from the nearby Felciaio Apartment. Those coming from the apartments in Porto Azzurro can reach the beach by following the provincial road to Portoferraio and turning at the second junction leading to Lido di Capoliveri Beach. Just before reaching Lido beach, a sign indicates the way to Felciaio. Parking is available at a large, paid parking lot located at this sign. A narrow 300m path from the parking lot leads directly to the beach. Despite the parking fees, the walk to the beach is described as a pleasant stroll through nature. Visitors are advised to bring their own umbrella, chairs, and packed lunch to save on costs, as the only available service on the beach is a bar.
