Spiaggia di Galenzana is a secluded beach located on the western side of the Gulf of Marina di Campo, on the southern coast of the island of Elba. It is known for its serene environment and is not typically crowded, making it an ideal location for those seeking tranquility and privacy.
The beach boasts a natural setting with golden sand and small gravel. It is divided into several small coves, separated by rocks, providing a unique landscape. The largest cove is suitable for families with children due to its sandy shores and shallow waters. The smaller coves, with their crystal-clear water and rocky seabed, appeal to snorkeling enthusiasts who can admire the rich marine life and seagrass.
Spiaggia di Galenzana is surrounded by pine trees, holm oaks, and tamarisk trees that reach the sea, providing shade on sunny and hot days. To the east of the beach is Capo di Poro, an untouched natural park that can be reached on foot along trails in the vegetation. This area offers stunning sunset views from the Capo di Poro lighthouse.
The beach is approximately 400 meters long and is divided into several sections due to erosion. Despite its peaceful atmosphere, during peak seasons it can get crowded. It is sheltered from most winds due to its "gulf" shape, although it is slightly exposed to winds coming from the east and northeast.
Spiaggia di Galenzana offers amenities such as umbrella and sunbed rentals, pedal boat rentals, and a masonry dock for small boats. However, there is no parking available near the beach. The beach can only be accessed by sea or on foot, following a trail that starts from the town of Marina di Campo. The walk takes approximately 10-15 minutes from the town center.
Once a site of furnaces used to melt iron before it was transported by sea, remnants of these activities can still be seen on the beach, with fragments of iron-colored stones adding a unique coloration to the beach. This historical aspect, along with its natural beauty and serene atmosphere, make Spiaggia di Galenzana a unique destination on the island of Elba.
