Spiaggia di Porto MĂ nagu is a picturesque beach located in the municipality of Bosa, within the province of Oristano in Northwestern Sardinia, Italy. Nestled in the Capo Marrargiu area, the beach is approximately 10 kilometers from the port of Bosa Marina. The beach is positioned within a fissure in the rocky cliff, offering stunning views of the Rio Managu valley. The coastline in this area, referred to as Callancheo, is marked by steep cliffs that descend directly into the sea, with patches of Mediterranean shrubs growing on the rough terrain.
The beach is the last sandy shoreline in the province of Oristano. The sand is primarily composed of reddish pebbles of medium and large sizes, occasionally interspersed with light gray, fine, and soft sand. The sea at Porto MĂ nagu is a striking blue, with a rocky and deep seabed. Despite the beach's limited size, it offers captivating views of the coast, the surrounding inland area, the 100-meter-long Managu islet, and a wild and scenic hinterland.
The beach is always deserted, offering a serene and wild environment. Occasionally, beached seagrass meadows can be found on the beach. Just 3 kilometers from Porto MĂ nagu is the Capo Marrargiu coastline, part of a nature reserve that protects the natural environment replete with reddish trachytic tuff rocks and a diverse fauna, including a colony of griffon vultures.
To reach the beach, visitors can commence their journey from the port of Bosa Marina. From Bosa, the beach can be accessed by crossing the bridge over the Temo River and turning left onto the SP49 road towards Alghero. After 9.8 kilometers, there is a small parking area where visitors can park their cars and continue on foot along a dirt path towards the south for approximately 750 meters. The beach can also be reached by boat, providing an opportunity to admire the breathtaking Bosan coast.
The beach has two levels, with the area closest to the water characterized by fine, light amber-colored sand, while the inner part has smooth pebbles. Small rocks and an islet in front of the beach add to the interesting landscape. The beach is well-protected from winds and is moderately crowded during the summer months.
However, it is important for visitors to note that there are no amenities or services available at the beach. Despite its seclusion, boats can dock at the beach without restrictions, which can sometimes result in petrol on the water surface. The beach can get very hot in the afternoon due to the stones. Visitors are encouraged to leave the place clean and preserve its natural beauty.
