Spiaggia di Sansone is a tranquil and picturesque beach located in Portoferraio, on the island of Elba. Recognized as one of the most beautiful beaches on the island, it is part of the renowned "white beaches" near Portoferraio and is characterized by its white pebbles, rocky terrain, and crystal-clear sea that boasts shades of dense blue, troubled azure, and brilliant turquoise. The beach provides a unique and enriching experience for visitors due to its perfect water depth suitable for swimming and exploring the surrounding rocks.
The beach’s natural beauty is accentuated by tall, white cliffs that plunge into the sea, and a large rock formation that divides the beach into two sections. The right side is dominated by the rock formation, while the left side features a smaller beach known as Sorgente. Due to these natural features and its location, Spiaggia di Sansone is considered ideal for those who prefer a less crowded environment and seek to immerse themselves in wild natural beauty.
In terms of amenities, Spiaggia di Sansone has a small establishment that provides umbrellas, sunbeds, and a small bar. Limited beach chairs and umbrellas are also available for rent, as are canoes, pedal boats, and SUPs. Nearby Sorgente beach hosts a camping site that offers catering services. While there are small restaurants in the vicinity for refreshments, visitors are advised to bring their own water and snacks as there are no kiosks on the beach itself.
To access Spiaggia di Sansone, visitors can take the provincial road from Portoferraio to Enfola, following clear signs for approximately 3.5 kilometers. Parking is available along the road or in a paid parking area, located about 300 meters from the beach. From the parking area, visitors must embark on a short, approximately 15-minute downhill walk through a small village to reach Sorgente beach, with Spiaggia di Sansone appearing after a short trail. However, due to the beach's popularity and limited parking space, it is recommended for visitors to arrive early. It should be noted that the beach is not wheelchair accessible due to the terrain.
