Plage de la Boutinardière is a picturesque beach situated between the towns of Pornic and La Bernerie. It boasts a large sandy cove adorned with unusual, enormous rocks and is surrounded by numerous fishing structures called "pêcheries", contributing to its distinctive charm.
One of the beach's unique natural features includes yellow-orange cliffs that provide a striking contrast against the sky. A notable cliff has a hole pierced all the way through, known as "le trou de l'enfer" (the hole of hell), which produces a deep and eerie sound when wind rushes through it. At low tide, an ancient fish trap system known as "écluses à poissons", dating back to the Middle Ages, is revealed. This intricate arrangement of small stones in the shape of a funnel was used to catch fish as the tide receded.
The beach is an ideal spot for both low and high tide activities. Visitors can partake in shore fishing for shrimp and exploring the exposed seabed, making it a favored spot for families and fishing enthusiasts. However, it is recommended that visitors wear shoes or boots for these activities.
