La Plage des Américains

The beach's name harks back to World War I, when the US Navy established a hydrobase in the area to combat German submarines. The beach is characterized by its stunning panoramas, including a view of the Grande Dame du Pilat. It is known for its clean blue water and the picturesque scenery it offers. One of the unique aspects of the beach is the visible oyster parks, which are close to the swimmers at high tide and reveal the posts and collectors used by oyster farmers at low tide. Adding to the ambiance of the beach is the Villa Madeleine, a historical structure built in 1896 by a friend of Gustave Eiffel. Eiffel himself installed a telescope at the top of the villa's tower, enhancing the panoramic view of the area. In terms of amenities, La Plage des Américains offers parking facilities.
