Plage de la Parée Préneau is a picturesque beach located in the Vendée department of the Pays de la Loire region in France, specifically in the town of Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez. This beach is popular for its expansive sandy expanse and its location near the Pays des Monts forest, which enhances its natural charm. The beach is characterized by its well-developed sand dunes and is considered one of the wild beaches of the area, lying to the north of Sion sur l'Océan.
The beach is not only appreciated for its fine sand, but also for the fact that it has fewer pebbles and algae compared to other beaches in the vicinity. Despite its natural characteristics, the beach is known to get deep quite fast and exhibit stronger waves. This makes it an ideal spot for individuals who appreciate the natural elements and the rejuvenating atmosphere that the beach offers.
Plage de la Parée Préneau is not always crowded and maintains a pleasant and quiet atmosphere, even during the afternoon when it is relatively busier. However, visitors are advised to be cautious of the potential presence of jellyfish.
During the summer months of July and August, the beach is supervised to ensure the safety of the visitors. Moreover, the beach is dog-friendly, allowing dogs to roam freely from 7 pm to 8 am.
The beach is easily accessible via the D123 road from Sion sur Océan to St Jean de Monts. After driving for about 2 km on this road, a left turn leads directly to the beach. To facilitate parking, a free parking lot is available for cars. Additionally, there is a designated area for camping cars located behind the dunes, providing convenient accommodation options for visitors.
