Plage de la Pége

Plage de la Pége is a serene beach located in Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez, a commune in the Vendée department of the Pays de la Loire region in western France. The beach is nestled between the areas of Sion sur l'Océan and Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez, and is surrounded by several campsites.

The beach stretches for several kilometers, offering an expansive area of sand and dunes. Despite its large size, the beach can become crowded, particularly during high tide when the beach area is significantly reduced. However, the beach's size also means that visitors can usually find a spot to unwind, although a bit of walking might be necessary.

The natural beauty of Plage de la Pége is one of its most notable features. The beach and its surrounding environment have been well-preserved, providing visitors with a tranquil setting. Walking trails behind the dunes offer an ideal setting for family walks. One distinctive characteristic of this beach is the presence of seaweed, which contributes to its natural appeal.

Accessibility to Plage de la Pége is facilitated by a large free parking area located near the beach. There is also a path through the dunes that leads to the beach. For those coming from Sion sur l'Océan, the beach can be reached by taking the D123 road towards Saint-Jean-de-Monts and turning left at the sign for the beach. During the summer months, there is also a special access route available for people with reduced mobility.

In terms of amenities, Plage de la Pége has a toilet facility but lacks other conveniences such as showers or benches. Despite this, the beach is supervised during the peak months of July and August, ensuring the safety of its visitors. Additionally, dogs are allowed on the beach during the hours of 7 pm to 8 am.
