Plage de la Pointe Espagnole

Plage de la Pointe Espagnole is a beach located in La Tremblade, a commune in the Charente-Maritime department in the Poitou-Charentes region of France. It is the first beach on the Côte Sauvage, known for its vast dune area and imposing natural scenery. The beach offers a beautiful landscape of dunes and pine forests, and faces west, making it a great spot to enjoy the sunset. The beach is characterized by its wide and deep sandy area. It is known for its powerful waves and strong currents, which can be a potential hazard, especially for young children, and swimming can be dangerous due to these factors. However, during the summer season from July 8th to August 27th, the beach is supervised by lifeguards from 11 am to 7 pm, providing a safer bathing area. Plage de la Pointe Espagnole is not overly crowded, even during the peak season. It offers a 'wild' and unspoiled nature, making it a perfect spot for those seeking a serene beach experience. Naturism is permitted on this beach. Dogs are allowed on the beach while leashed throughout the year, except from June 15th to September 15th. The beach is accessible after a 10-minute walk through the dune area. It is situated 6.5 km away from Ronce-les-Bains and can be reached through both bike and car parking lots via a 460-meter sandy path. A car park is available for visitors, however, overnight parking is prohibited from midnight to 6 am. There are no specific amenities or facilities on the beach, but there is a snack bar available, subject to availability. Activities such as surfing, kitesurfing, and fishing are popular at the beach. There is a cycling track or path located within 500 meters, and a nearby pedestrian trail offers opportunities for walking and exploring the area. Horseback riding is permitted before 10 am and after 8 pm from June 15th to September 15th.
