Plage de la Pointe de l'Aiguillon

Plage de la Pointe de l'Aiguillon is a peaceful beach located in the easternmost part of the resort town of Arcachon, in the Gironde department of the Aquitaine region in France. The beach stretches for 400 meters from the right of the port up to the Pointe de l'Aiguillon, offering a unique ocean view and a picturesque backdrop of old fishing huts and boats floating near the shore. The beach is situated in a residential area, bordered by modern buildings and offering vacation rentals. Despite its proximity to the town center, it is known for its tranquil atmosphere and is less crowded than other beaches in the Arcachon Bay, making it an ideal spot for those seeking solitude. Plage de la Pointe de l'Aiguillon is characterized by its fine sand and extends up to the port in the Aiguillon neighborhood, near the Ville d'Automne. The Pointe de l'Aiguillon features old wooden fishing huts and the beach continues for about a hundred meters before ending near the fishing district. The beach offers a variety of water activities such as sailing and rowing, although its muddy nature and proximity to moored boats may make it less suitable for swimming. There is also the unique opportunity to taste oysters directly from the oyster farmer on the sand. Parking near the beach can be challenging, especially during the summer, with a small parking lot available on Boulevard Pierre Loti. However, relative ease of parking can be found even during the peak summer month of August. To reach Plage de la Pointe de l'Aiguillon, it is approximately 649 meters from the center of Arcachon. Despite its somewhat muddy entrance and occasional presence of broken glass, the beach remains a pleasant place to relax and enjoy the sun, offering a nice view of the Teste de Buch.
