Plage de la Source

Plage de la Source is a small, sandy cove situated in the Gourmalon neighborhood of Pornic, in Loire-Atlantique, France. Nestled between two rocks and shale reefs, it offers a picturesque landscape with views of the coast, the bay, fishing huts, and Noirmoutier Island. The beach is known for its natural water source discovered in the 19th century, which was believed to possess curative properties. This beach is a popular destination, attracting tourists since the 19th century. It is renowned for its beautiful marine landscapes and long coastal walks, offering visitors the opportunity to relax and rejuvenate by the sea. Fishing structures are installed on its rocky points and at low tide, an abandoned fish lock wall emerges, forming a natural pool for safe swimming. The beach is equipped with showers, cabins, and a diving board. It also features poles connected by ropes in the water, a 19th-century installation to provide support for non-swimmers during sea bathing. For visitors seeking wellness experiences, a thalassotherapy center, formerly a casino built in 1885, overlooks the beach. Swimming at Plage de la Source is not supervised, but pets are allowed on the beach from October to March. Visitors are also allowed to enjoy the beach's paths or simply relax and soak in the summer atmosphere. In terms of amenities, there are three restaurants near the beach, and sanitary facilities are available for public use. The beach has been awarded the "Pavillon Bleu" label, indicating the quality of its bathing waters. For convenience, there is a free parking lot located 200 meters from the beach.
