L'acqua Dolce is a distinctive beach located near the town of Cala Gonone, famously situated near a volcano. This beach is characterized by its unique black pebbles, a direct result of the nearby volcanic activity, and its crystal-clear waters that are especially refreshing for beach-goers.
One of the key features of L'acqua Dolce beach is a small path that leads to an enchanting grotto. From here, visitors can take in the stunning surrounding landscape. Adjacent to the beach, a serene cliff provides an ideal spot for tranquil sunbathing, away from any noise and disturbances.
The beach is also notable for its spectacular cliff near Cala Gonone, with two or three sources of fresh water that cascade into the sea, giving the beach its name. The beach is composed of small pebbles and rocks, and the transparent sea makes it an excellent spot for snorkelling.
Despite its captivating beauty, L'acqua Dolce is not heavily frequented by tourists, even during the high season. This is partly due to its location, which is not easy to reach. However, those who do make the journey are rewarded with a peaceful spot, rarely crowded, even in the height of summer.
Visitors are advised to visit the beach in the morning, as the sun tends to disappear early in the afternoon. The beach is also particularly beautiful during storms, when the waves break high on the cliff, filling the air with a brackish scent and the roar of the sea.
L'acqua Dolce is accessible by car, and is located close to the road, not far from the port of Cala Gonone. For the convenience of visitors, a parking space on a private road is provided.
