The Plage de Lespecier is a serene and picturesque beach located in the resort town of Mimizan, in the Landes Aquitaine region of France. Known for its natural beauty, it is considered one of the most attractive beaches in the Landes. The beach is located to the west of the village of Bias and south of Mimizan-Plage, providing a secluded and tranquil experience for visitors.
The beach's environment is largely untouched, bordered by beautiful dunes and the Mimizan Sunday forest, providing a unique and secluded experience for visitors. The beachfront stretches for miles, accessible through the woods and the dune, providing a sense of wild beauty. The beach is also situated at the mouth where the ocean meets the coastal area, adding to its scenic charm.
Amenities at Plage de Lespecier include a small beach bar and food place, as well as public toilets. The beach is supervised from July 1st to August 31st, with lifeguards on duty every day from 11:00 to 19:00 during this period. Special considerations have also been made to accommodate people with reduced mobility, including access to the water via a tyralo.
Plage de Lespecier offers ample free parking under pine trees, located approximately 1 km away from the beach. To reach the beach from the parking area, visitors must walk for about 10 minutes, crossing a dune along the way. The beach can be accessed via the Vélodyssée cycling path from Mimizan-Plage, or by two roads for those traveling by car.
Despite its natural allure, Plage de Lespecier is not as crowded as other beaches in Mimizan, offering visitors a peaceful beach experience. It is popular among surfers and fishermen, but swimming near the mouth with the current is prohibited due to safety reasons.
