Spiaggia Lunga is a picturesque beach located in close proximity to the town of Porto Ercole, situated on the Monte Argentario. Its natural beauty is characterized by sandy shores interspersed with low cliffs, and a seabed of large pebbles. The sediment on the beach is predominantly sandy, with small pebbles measuring two or three millimeters in diameter. The beach is known for its cleanliness and inviting environment.
The beach can be accessed via a panoramic road that originates from Porto Ercole. A marked trail of about 200 meters, leading off just before the junction to Forte Stella, brings visitors to the beach. This trail, although considered of high difficulty due to an elevation difference of 60 meters, offers stunning views of the surroundings. Another access route begins from the Salivoli car park, involving a flat walk of a few kilometers that becomes steep only towards the end. This trail can be traversed on foot or by mountain bike, with the journey taking approximately twenty minutes. Visitors are advised to be cautious of falling stones on this route.
Spiaggia Lunga is exposed to various winds, including the South and Libeccio winds. Favorable winds for the beach include Scirocco, Levante, Grecale, Tramontana, Maestrale, and Ponente. The beach is generally quite large and, despite being known to be crowded at times, it often offers a tranquil environment for visitors.
Amenities at Spiaggia Lunga include a rental service for sunbeds and umbrellas. However, it should be noted that there is no natural shade available on the beach. Visitors are also advised to wear rock shoes due to the pebble-filled seabed.
