Plage de Messanges, also known as Plage Nord à Messanges and Plage Centrale de Messanges, is a beautiful beach located in the seaside resort of Messanges, in the Landes region of Aquitaine, France. It is approximately 3km from the center of Messanges and 2 km from the resort center, surrounded by a lush green environment and bordered by the Landes forest. This wild beach is characterized by its beautiful Atlantic views, expansive stretches of clean sand, dunes, and forest. It offers a stunning view of the ocean, making it a popular destination for visitors of all ages.
The beach is easily accessible by car or by bike using a pleasant cycling path that runs alongside the beach. Visitors need to cross a dune to access the beach, but parking is free and conveniently located about 100 meters from the dunes and beach. There is also a small pull-in area opposite a surf club's structures with no height barrier, allowing for brief stops for larger vehicles.
Plage de Messanges is equipped with various amenities. It offers toilets and showers for public use, and picnic benches provide a place for visitors to sit and enjoy a meal. A restaurant and a surf school are available on-site for those interested in learning the sport or honing their skills. Dogs are allowed on the beach but must be kept on a leash.
The beach is supervised during the summer, from June 17th to September 17th, with varying hours depending on the month, making it safe for families and friends to swim between the red and yellow flags. The beach is known for its excellent surf conditions, with waves that are sometimes very strong, providing an exciting challenge for surfers. Despite its popularity, the beach offers a relaxing and calm environment, making it perfect for a day at the beach or an hour's walk along the shore.
