Nisportino Beach, situated in Rio on the Island of Elba, is a peaceful and secluded beach that has managed to retain its natural beauty despite being relatively untouched by tourism development. The beach is about 120 meters long and 15-20 meters wide, composed of colorful pebbles and coarse sand. This picturesque beach is mainly exposed to the southwest, west, and northwest winds, contributing to its unique coastal environment.
Nisportino Beach is notable for its impressive sea transparency, especially during a scirocco day. The beach is decorated with occasional presence of posidonia, commonly mistaken for algae, and driftwood brought in by the sea. A prominent feature of the beach is a promontory on the right side, adorned with white and colorful pebbles, offering a beautiful scenery. An interesting cave with transparent waters and a small beach of white pebbles is found on the southern tip of Nisporto.
The beach offers several amenities, including a bar, pizzeria, and restaurant on the left side of the beach. These establishments also provide rentals for umbrellas and beach chairs for the convenience of visitors. Despite the availability of these amenities, Nisportino Beach is known for its quiet atmosphere and is less crowded compared to other beaches, making it a perfect destination for a tranquil vacation.
The beach is accessible by following the directions from Bagnaia or Rio Elba. The road from Bagnaia to Nisporto offers a beautiful panoramic view of Portoferraio, the northern coast, and the Enfola promontory, with Mediterranean vegetation cascading down to the sea. A parking area is available on the road leading to the beach, making it convenient for visitors traveling by car.
While the beach is inviting, visitors are advised not to visit during the hottest hours of the day due to the lack of shade. Despite its natural allure, the beach may not be the best spot for snorkeling as the water clarity decreases closer to the shore and the sea bottom is quite rocky and slippery. Regular cleanups are also recommended to maintain the cleanliness of the sandy areas.
