Paralia Pachia Ammos is a beach known for its unique black volcanic sand and crystal clear water. The beach is characterized by its natural and peaceful atmosphere, often frequented by nudist bathers. The sand, while dark and prone to intense heat, is noted for its non-stick quality. The beach is not equipped with amenities such as sunbeds or showers, and has very few trees or natural shelters to provide shade. However, it is a popular spot for tent camping, with numerous wooden and fabric structures typically seen upstream from the beach during the summer period.
The beach is accessible by a footpath in the south/south-east direction, which takes about twenty minutes to traverse from the nearby free car park. The path is narrow and can be slippery in places, requiring caution. Alternatively, the beach can also be reached by swimming from Lia. Despite the challenging access, visitors often find the journey worth the effort due to the beach's natural beauty and tranquility.
In addition to its scenic appeal, Paralia Pachia Ammos offers opportunities for snorkeling, with a variety of fish to be seen. The beach's small pebble size and the presence of dark gray/black sand dunes add to its distinctive charm. However, due to the dark sand, the beach can get scorching hot around mid-day, making it advisable to either run to the water or use flip-flops for comfort.
