Playa Blanca sits on Isla Baru, 30 kilometres south-west of Cartagena, Colombia. Isla Baru is part of the Rosario Islands – an island chain extending into the Caribbean. Unlike some of the other islands, Baru is not privately owned. If you’re looking for a more calm experience, Playa Blanca may not be the choice for you. At least on the weekends, anyway. If you visit during the workweek it may be more satisfactory since locals usually crowd the beach during the weekend. Other than golden sands and turquoise water, it offers a magnificent sunrise and sunset experiences, so stick around if you have the chance. There is a littering problem, so please try to keep your trash in a bag and discard it properly after you’ve left the beach.
