Plage de Pont-Mahé

Plage de Pont-Mahé is a beach located in the town of Assérac, in the Loire-Atlantique department of the Pays de la Loire region in France. The beach is situated in the Pont-Mahé bay near the border of the Loire-Atlantique and Morbihan departments. It spans approximately 2 kilometers on a sandy stretch and is characterized by its shallow depth and gentle slope, making it an ideal spot for children and water sports like kitesurfing and sailing. However, swimming might be challenging during low tide as the sea recedes significantly.

The beach is known for its warm waters and abundance of shells, offering opportunities for long walks along the coast. Visitors can also observe the rising sea and the nearby dune, which contributes to the local ecosystem. The beach is easily accessible, with the main access located in the hamlet of Pont Mahé, on the left from the D82 road leading from the center of Assérac towards Pénestin.

Plage de Pont-Mahé provides amenities for people with reduced mobility and a lifeguard station, which operates during the months of July and August. Free parking is available along the road that leads directly to the beach, although the number of spaces might be limited. Despite the beach's natural beauty, some visitors may find the bay less intriguing compared to other sites in the area. The beach's surroundings are also classified as Natura 2000, indicating a high ecological value.
