Plage du Portmain

Plage du Portmain is a picturesque beach located in Pornic, a town in the Loire-Atlantique department of the Pays de la Loire region in France. It is one of the largest beaches in the area and is renowned for its beautiful sandy landscape and clear, jade-colored waters. The beach is characterized by its various creeks and intimate wild nooks, which add to its preserved environment and natural beauty.

The beach is divided into several zones, with the main beach being the most accessible. This main area is equipped with essential facilities such as showers and toilets, and it also has a boat ramp for easy access to the water. Smaller sandy coves can be found on both sides of the main beach, offering visitors a chance to explore more secluded areas. These can be reached by following the scenic coastal path.

During the summer months, from July to August, the beach is monitored by lifeguards. There is also a first aid post available during this period, ensuring the safety of swimmers and beach-goers. Wooden pylons in the water indicate the sandy bottom, further enhancing the safety of the beach.

Plage du Portmain is easily accessible by car, with the direction towards Préfailles leading to the beach. The beach can also be reached via the D751 road, and its entrance is marked with road signage. There is ample parking available near the beach, including 60 regular parking spaces and 2 spaces specifically designed for disabled individuals. A ramp for disabled access is also available.

For those who enjoy aquatic and nautical activities, the beach is equipped with sites for these pursuits. Moreover, the beach is surrounded by great walking trails, including the wide Douaniers trail that is easy to traverse.
