Plage du Prévent is a scenic beach nestled in the city of Capbreton, within the Landes region of France. Known locally as "L'amicale", it is situated near the Centre de Rééducation du Sportif (CERS) of Capbreton and the city center, along the Promenade du Front de Mer. The beach is not particularly wide or wild, but its convenient location makes it a popular destination.
The beach is framed by two rock formations, enhancing its natural beauty. It offers a stunning view of the Basque coast and its distant mountains, making it an ideal location for those seeking picturesque landscapes. Visitors to Plage du Prévent can expect to enjoy a calm swell, suitable for swimming, and a friendly environment. The beach is also a popular spot for surfers and windsurfers, thanks to its slightly protected waves.
Plage du Prévent provides several amenities to ensure a comfortable visit for its visitors. These include toilets, showers, and a lifeguard station, which it shares with the Savane beach. There are also facilities specially designed for people with reduced mobility, such as a ramp, a beach mat, and a tiralo - a type of amphibious wheelchair. The beach also has a designated non-smoking area. Safety is a priority at Plage du Prévent, with lifeguards on duty from July 8th to September 3rd, and the water quality is checked daily during the summer season.
Visitors can find parking spaces available along Avenue du Maréchal de Lattre de Tassigny, and a reserved parking area located 100 meters from the beach that is accessible for strollers and wheelchairs. For those who prefer to walk or cycle, the beach is easily accessible from both the promenade and the cycle path. However, access to the beach is via stairs, which might not be suitable for everyone. Please note that parking operates on OTA.
In terms of dining options, visitors can enjoy a meal with an ocean view at a nearby terrace, which offers cuisine made with fresh, seasonal, local, and regional products. There are also many snack options and a seafront promenade nearby, providing plenty of options for refreshments and leisurely walks. However, caution is advised due to the beach's steep entrance to the water.
Plage du Prévent is much more than just a beach; it's a haven for relaxation, recreational activities, and natural beauty, making it a must-visit destination in Capbreton.
