Playa de Santa Marina, sometimes referred to as Playa de Ribadesella, is a popular beach located in the coastal town of Ribadesella in Asturias. Known for its golden sands, it is an urban beach equipped with a variety of amenities including lifeguard services, assistance for disabled bathers, walkways, showers, and dining options. The beach is recognized for its quality and well-maintained facilities, which have earned it the Q for quality award. The beach is situated at the mouth of the Sella River, an area known for its high occupancy. In the western part of the beach, visitors can find dinosaur footprints, adding a unique historical aspect to the location. Behind the beach promenade, there are numerous modernist and Indian-style villas that contribute to the area's aesthetic appeal. Accessibility is a key feature at Playa de Santa Marina. The beach provides four accessible toilets, parking for individuals with disabilities, and a service for amphibious chairs. While dogs are not permitted on the beach from June 10th to September 17th between 8:00 am and 9:00 pm, they are allowed on the promenades and urban areas provided they are leashed and muzzled if necessary. Lifeguard services are also available daily from June 10th to September 17th. Playa de Santa Marina is also recognized as a surfer's dream due to its beachfront surf camp. The camp offers surf lessons and a range of other water sports activities, making it an ideal spot for both beginners and experienced surfers. The area is conveniently located with amenities such as bars and mini-markets in close proximity. The beach is known for its impressive size during low tide, providing ample space for beach activities. However, during high tides, particularly in August, the beach can be covered by waves, leaving little space for beachgoers. It's worth noting that the beach's proximity to the estuary of the Sella River has occasionally resulted in water quality issues, particularly after heavy rains. Despite these occasional challenges, Playa de Santa Marina remains a popular destination for families and couples alike. With free parking available at the end of the beach and a romantic beach walkway, it offers a cozy atmosphere that appeals to a wide range of visitors.
