Spiaggia Selvaggia, or the 'Wild Beach', is a serene and tranquil location nestled between the mouth of the Adda River and the Montecchio Nord hill in the town of Colico. This beach is characterized by its natural and wild environment, making it an idyllic destination for those seeking a peaceful day immersed in nature.
The beach is made up of sand and offers a breathtaking view of Lake Como, the surrounding villages, and the mountains. Despite the lack of amenities such as a children's area or a bar, the beach is known for its cleanliness and is not usually crowded. This makes it an ideal spot for visitors looking for some peace and quiet.
Spiaggia Selvaggia is also a pet-friendly beach. However, dogs must be registered, wear an identification collar, be in good health, well-behaved, and not in heat to ensure a peaceful coexistence with other visitors. Dog owners are also responsible for cleaning up after their pets.
Access to Spiaggia Selvaggia is relatively straightforward. It is positioned near a bike path, and reaching it involves following the "Sentiero Valtellina" for about 400 meters from the L'Ontano beach and turning left after crossing a wooden bridge. There are paid parking lots situated along Via Montecchio Nord, approximately 1.5 km away from the beach. However, there is no docking area for boats.
The beach offers a fantastic panorama and clear water in the morning, making it an ideal time for a swim. Despite the afternoon winds causing the sea to become rough and the water a bit dirty, it also provides an opportunity to watch windsurfers and kitesurfers darting across the lake, enhancing the overall beach experience.
