Plage Sud

Plage Sud is a beach located in the town of Mimizan Plage in the Landes Aquitaine region of France. This beach is the primary beach on the southern side of Mimizan. It is situated to the south of the Courant du Mimizan and expands for several kilometers towards the Petit and Grand Etang de la Maillouèyre. The beach is known for its sandy shoreline and dunes, offering a vast stretch of coastline. The environment quickly becomes wild as you move away from the main area along Avenue de l'Océan, making it less crowded and providing a relaxing atmosphere for visitors. Despite being close to the city center, its location offers an escape from the hustle and bustle. Plage Sud is known for its fine sand and strong waves, making it a popular spot for surfing. However, due to the strength of the waves, caution is advised when entering the water. The beach is supervised during specific hours, which vary depending on the time of year. From June 10th to June 30th and from September 1st to September 10th, the beach is supervised daily from 12:30 PM to 6:30 PM. From July 1st to August 31st, the beach is supervised daily from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM. However, it is important to note that the beach is only monitored in the area along Avenue de l'Océan during the summer. For visitors planning to visit by car, there are parking spaces along Avenue de l'Océan. There is also a large parking lot at the end of the avenue which provides direct access to the beach. However, it is important to note that vehicles taller than 1.95m may not fit in the car parks near the beachfront. In terms of amenities, there are a number of restaurants nearby, as well as a camping site for those wishing to extend their stay.
