Plage Vensac is an untouched coastal gem located in the small village of Vensac in the Médoc region, situated between Montalivet les Bains and Grayan-et-l'Hôpital, in the Gironde department of Aquitaine, France. Known for its pristine and preserved natural state, the beach stretches for approximately 1.8 kilometers, making it one of the wildest and least known beaches in the area. The local municipality has emphasized the importance of maintaining the natural beauty of the shoreline and the dunes, with a focus on preventing wind erosion and promoting the growth of coastal vegetation through the use of barriers and pine branches.
The beach is easily accessible due to its proximity to a nearby road. However, there is no designated parking area at the foot of the dunes, but a concrete track from the German occupation era is available for parking, although parking is prohibited from midnight to 6 am. Due to financial constraints, the municipality has discontinued lifeguard services, and it is important to note that swimming is officially prohibited due to the dangerous currents known as "baïnes."
The beach is limited to the north by the naturist center Euronat, which is reserved for naturists. The beach is a favorite among fishing enthusiasts and sunbathers who appreciate the tranquility and convenience it offers. Despite its discreet location and the lack of signs indicating the way to the beach in the village, many visitors are drawn to the serenity and vastness of its sandy expanse.
