Plage de Bonne-Source

Plage de Bonne-Source is a public beach located in the commune of Pornichet, in the Loire-Atlantique department, in the Pays de la Loire region of France. It is the largest sandy beach in Pornichet and is recognized for its fine sand, in contrast to the region's typically coarse sand beaches. The beach extends for approximately 2.5 km, commencing at the Pointe du Bec, just southeast of the port of Pornichet, and stretches to the Pointe de Congrigoux. The landscape of Plage de Bonne-Source is a blend of sandy and rocky areas, providing a diverse environment for visitors to explore. The rocky regions are a haven for fishermen, where mussels, periwinkles, and other shellfish are found in abundance. The sandy stretches are popular among swimmers and are also cherished by skimboarders and bodyboarders for their activities. However, during high tide, the beach can become quite small due to the ocean's encroachment. Apart from the beach activities, visitors can also take advantage of the coastal trail along the dunes, which is frequented by walkers and joggers. This trail provides panoramic views of the nearby islands, the marina, and the lighthouses. As the sun sets, the beach turns into a popular spot for viewing breathtaking sunsets. To enhance the experience of the visitors, Plage de Bonne-Source offers a range of amenities including a restaurant, beach club, first aid stations, and restrooms. The beach also has two lifeguard stations in the eastern part, near Avenues des Hirondelles and Villès Chevissens. Facilities for people with reduced mobility, including a tiralo, are also available. The beach can be accessed through small passages between houses from the road. For those coming from the center of Pornichet, the beach can be reached by taking the direction of Saint-Nazaire along the coast. There are parking spaces available along Avenue de Bonne-Source, and two parking lots near Avenue Lequerré and Avenue Jaunais. A bike path also leads to the beach. Despite its size and popularity among families, Plage de Bonne-Source maintains a sense of discretion and mystery, and is open to the public year-round with no entrance fee. Since 2019, designated non-smoking areas have been established around the beach and sailing clubs.
