Spiaggia dei Maronti is a well-known beach situated in the municipality of Barano d'Ischia on the island of Ischia. This expansive beach, stretching approximately 3 kilometers, is the largest beach on the island. The beach is nestled amongst hills and cliffs, which conceal entrances to caves. Some of these caves are home to thermal springs, adding to the unique natural characteristics of the area. The panorama of Maronti beach is often admired and shared worldwide, with a viewpoint available for capturing the stunning bay.
The beach can be reached by a scenic road from the village of Barano, or alternatively, via water taxis from the quaint port of Sant'Angelo. For those preferring public transportation, bus services are available, including bus number 5 which departs from the port of Ischia and takes the road to the beach. In August, bus number 10 also provides a connection from Fiaiano to the beach. For those traveling by car, there are two paid parking lots available in the square, and additional blue parking spaces along the descent, payable with a daily fee.
The beach's sand is slightly coarser compared to other beaches on the island, which makes it easier to remove sand residues from the body. Another unique feature of Spiaggia dei Maronti is that the water becomes deep just 2-3 meters from the shore, unlike other beaches where it is possible to walk for 15-20 meters and still touch the bottom.
Various amenities are available at Spiaggia dei Maronti, including numerous summer establishments providing services. Most of these establishments have a restaurant or bar, and free areas are also available. Visitors can also enjoy sand treatments near Sant'Angelo or at the Cavascura and Fumarole thermal spas. For convenient transportation along the beach, a taxi boat service is available, allowing visitors to travel from one end of the beach to the other without having to walk under the hot sun.
Despite its popularity, Spiaggia dei Maronti can get crowded, and there have been some concerns raised about cleanliness, with reports of dirt in the water. It is also worth noting that there might not be enough free beaches, and visitors may need to spend on parking and beach facilities such as deck chairs and beach umbrellas.
