Spiaggia Libera Attrezzata Per Cani Lavagna, also known as "Bau Beach," is a unique beach located in the municipality of Lavagna, in the Liguria region of Italy. This beach is distinctive for being specifically designed and equipped for dogs and their owners. The beach is situated near the underpass of Via Aurelia, just a hundred meters beyond Tigullio Park. This location places it within proximity to a train station, making it easily accessible by both car and public transportation. For those driving, parking facilities are available close by, however, these are paid. In terms of its natural attributes, the beach is characterized by its warm waters and a 'rolling stone' type of beach, primarily composed of pebbles. The beach spans an area of approximately 200 square meters, which, while relatively small, has been equipped to accommodate both dogs and their owners. Amenities at the beach include shade, a special shower for dogs, and bowls for drinking water. This makes it a comfortable space for dogs, despite the limited area. The beach is open to dogs from May 1st to September 30th, during the hours of 8:00 am and 7:30 pm. However, to ensure safety and comfort, a maximum of ten dogs are allowed on the beach at any given time, and only five dogs are allowed in the water simultaneously. While the beach is popular among dog owners, it is less crowded on weekdays compared to weekends. Despite the beach's popularity, it has received mixed reviews due to the small space available for dogs, the lack of cleanliness, and the absence of certain amenities such as toilets. Nevertheless, the beach remains a popular and cost-effective option for dog-owning beach-goers in the area.
