San Terenzo The Marinella Beach is situated in the town of San Terenzo, offering a picturesque view of the Lerici Castle. The beach, approximately 200 meters long, is characterized by its fine sandy shoreline which transitions into small pebbles as one moves further from the water. The beach's shallow seabed that stretches for several meters, coupled with its protection by a cliff, makes it a suitable location for children, including toddlers.
The beach is divided into two parts, a free beach and an equipped beach. The free beach is on the left side of the area while the equipped beach is on the right. The equipped beach offers visitors the option to rent amenities like sun loungers, umbrellas, pedal boats, and canoes. Additionally, the beach is enclosed by breakwaters where sunbathing is possible.
Located behind the San Terenzo Castle is the Marinella Beach, a small sandy cove surrounded by Mediterranean vegetation. This beach shares similar characteristics with the main San Terenzo Beach, including its fine sand and shallow seabed.
The beach is not overly crowded, offering a peaceful environment for visitors. Despite its appeal, it is important to note that there have been reports of litter and cigarette butts on the beach.
There are two options by car to reach the beaches of San Terenzo. For those coming from the northeast, one can exit at La Spezia/Santo Stefano Magra on the A15 highway, continue towards La Spezia, follow the signs for Lerici, and arrive at San Terenzo. For those coming from the west (Genoa and surroundings), the route involves the Sarzana exit on the A12 highway, proceeding to Romito Magra, Cerri, Pugliola, Lerici, and then San Terenzo. Alternatively, visitors can take the ATC company bus from La Spezia Centrale train station on the L/S Sarzana Santa Caterina-La Spezia Fossitermi line, which takes about 30 minutes depending on the schedule.
Please note that the beach has been closed since 2012 due to a landslide.
